
Peter Eisinger (Ph.D., Yale, 1969) taught at Wisconsin from 1969 to 1997, when he left to take a position at Wayne State University in Detroit. In his time at Wisconsin he served as Department Chair (1987-90) and Director of the LaFollette Institute (1991-1996). He is the author or co-author of seven books and more than 60 articles on various aspects of race in American cities, federalism, economic development policy, and hunger and food assistance programs, among other topics. He retired from teaching in 2013 as the Henry Cohen Professor of Urban Policy at the New School in New York City.
