The National Security Studies Certificate is an interdisciplinary, 15-credit certificate that explores U.S. national security though political science, military studies, history, and international relations.
Students who enroll in the National Security Studies Certificate will take coursework on national security policy and institutions, civil-military relations, conflict, diplomacy and global strategy, emerging threats like cyber warfare and terrorism, and ethics and leadership in security decision-making.
Political science, international studies, history, and public affairs majors are encouraged to pursue this certificate, as well as ROTC students, or anyone with an interest in government careers, defense, diplomacy, or global security.
The National Security Studies certificate will help you build career-ready skills for public service and national security fields, gain interdisciplinary training valued by employers, and complement your major with a focused, high-impact credential. Potential career paths for students in this program are in the Department of Defense, the U.S. Foreign Service, intelligence agencies, policy analysis, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), or consulting.
