Biography
Shakiba Bakhtiari is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in comparative politics of authoritarian regimes. Her research focuses on the dynamics of authoritarian power-sharing and regime survival, alongside the advancement of women’s rights and political representation in authoritarian and transitional regimes.
Before starting her Ph.D., Shakiba earned a B.A. in Law and an M.A. in International Law from Tarbiat Modares University (Tehran, Iran), followed by a second M.A. in Political Science from Illinois State University.
