PS 836 covers important formal (game-theoretic) models of domestic politics, including models of electoral competition, special-interest politics, veto players, delegation, coalitions, political agency, regime change, and nondemocracy. The course should be of interest to any political scientist or economist with an interest in political economy, comparative politics, or American politics. Previous training in game theory at or above the level of PS 835 is required, as is knowledge of basic differential and integral calculus.
