PS 401 German Politics

This class offers a broad overview of politics in Germany, Europe’s politically and economicallymost powerful country. It is structured around several broad themes: political institutions, electoral system and elections, parties and party system, interest representation, political participation, political economy, the legacies of Germany’s past, social policy, European and foreign policy, and current and future challenges. Throughout the semester, we will relate the German experience to broader issues, problems, and concepts used in the comparative study of domestic politics.
