About

Patrick Kearney is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he studies International Relations and Political Methodology.  He’s previously earned an M.A. in political science from Purdue University, studying International Relations and Comparative Politics, and a B.A. from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

His dissertation examines the domestic politics of international enforcement.  In particular, it explores the enforcement of human rights provisions attached to trade and development agreements.  Employing statistical analysis and case studies of US and EU enforcement action over the past decade, the dissertation approaches the question of enforcement from a novel perspective and finds support for hypotheses regarding the importance of domestic politics.
