About

Ned Littlefield is a second-year PhD student. He is interested in various aspects of Latin American civil-military relations, such as: the democratic control and effectiveness of security institutions, including both police and military forces; human rights and political violence; and drug policy and U.S. security assistance. He holds Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships from the U.S. Department of Education to study Portuguese during the Summer 2018, Fall 2018, and Spring 2019 semesters. Ned previously worked in research and programming around international security, development, and education, also with a regional focus on Latin America. He has a Master's from Brandeis University and a Bachelor's from Kenyon College.
