PS 817 Empirical Methods of Political Inquiry

This course provides an overview of research design strategies in political science, focusing on each of their strengths and weaknesses. Topics include measurement, causation, hypothesis testing, data collection, specification, and experimentation. Class meetings are a combination of lecture and discussion. Students are expected to complete several smaller assignments throughout the semester and a research design proposal as the final project.
