TIMOTHY HILDEBRANDT is
a graduate student in the department of political science at the University
of Wisconsin-Madison, where he is studying comparative politics and
international relations with a focus on China. His primary areas of research
interest include nongovernmental organizations, public participation, social
movements and civil society development, as well as environmental
policy. Previously, he was project assistant for the Asia Program and the
China Environment Forum (CEF) at the Woodrow Wilson International Center
for Scholars in Washington, DC. While at the Center, he also served
as managing editor of CEF’s China Environment Series. His work has
been published in the South China Morning Post, Chicago Tribune,
Christian Science Monitor and The China Business Review and various
policy journals. He received a B.A. in political science and Asian
studies from St. Olaf College in Minnesota.
